Ja’Marr Chase wants to get the Cincinnati Bengals back to the playoffs so they can compete for a chance to return to the Super Bowl and win it after coming so close in 2022.
The superstar wide receiver does it all when it comes to the individual numbers, so his main focus is on the team and winning games entering year six of his career. That being said, there is one personal accolade that Chase has his sights set on, and that’s breaking the NFL’s single-season receiving touchdown record, which is currently held by Randy Moss who racked up 23 during the 2007 campaign.
“The only goal that I have for myself going forward now is just to get 22, 23 touchdowns. Not 22, 23 — I want to break the record with that. But that’s not my full goal every day. My goal is to be better than I was the last day, try to get my team better than they was the last day, and just try to be better than what I was last year, trying to stay more consistent. This time now, this year, it’s all about a championship game and winning. I’m not really worried about too many personal accolades no more,”
The 26-year-old Chase is coming off another monster season in 2025, having racked up 1,412 receiving yards and eight receiving touchdowns on 125 receptions across 16 games played.
Chase came within striking distance in 2024 with 17 scores, but outside of that, he hasn’t been all that close to tying or breaking the record.
His 17-touchdown season came with a healthy Joe Burrow and a 17-game regular season. Assuming both he and his quarterback stay on the field in 2026, Chase putting up 20-plus touchdowns shouldn’t be ruled out.
He’s proven to be the best wide receiver in football, and when a talent like Chase puts his mind to something in the prime of his career, that can be very difficult to stop.
