The Toronto Blue Jays will be looking for more power and speed to add to their lineup this offseason, and there’s one polarizing free agent who could fit that mold.
That would be New York Yankees infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr., who is poised to hit free agency this winter, and MLB.com insider Mark Feinsand sees the Blue Jays as one of the teams getting involved in the sweepstakes.
“Toronto could easily plug Ernie Clement into its second-base spot, but Clement stumbled down the stretch this season, posting a .442 combined OPS in August and September. General manager Ross Atkins has said publicly that Clement will have to earn his spot next spring, but could the Blue Jays look to add a new second baseman via free agency and utilize Clement as a super utility man? Given that Toronto ranked last in the Majors in runs scored (648), the lineup certainly could use a jolt somewhere,”
Detroit, San Diego, Cincinnati, the Los Angeles Angels and a return to New York were the other five options mentioned by Feinsand.
The 28-year-old Chisholm Jr. is coming off an underwhelming 2026 season in which he hit .231 with 19 home runs and 55 RBI while piling up 41 stolen bases.

Chisholm Jr. would come with some risk, but there’s also plenty of upside, as we’ve seen throughout his career. That’s something the Blue Jays are desperately lacking in their lineup.
Toronto ranked dead last in MLB in home runs and runs batted in this season while also finishing fourth-last in stolen bases. Those three areas are typically where Chisholm Jr. provides most of his value, so if the Blue Jays get him at a reasonable cost, he could be the jolt they need, as Feinsand noted.
