We’re at that point of the NFL offseason where nothing is happening, but everyone is starting to get the itch for football. As a result, player rankings and lists come out to stir up debate and controversy.
No position does so more than quarterback, and that was certainly the case on Tuesday thanks to Colin Cowherd. The popular Fox Sports analyst revealed his top 10 signal-callers heading into 2026, and one very notable name was not included: Lamar Jackson.
Cowherd was quite firm on his stance that he no longer trusts Jackson:
“That’s where I’m at with Lamar Jackson. There’s other franchise quarterbacks I like: Drake Maye now, and Caleb Williams, and Bo Nix… He is a declining player. I trust somebody until I don’t trust them. I no longer trust Lamar Jackson in a big spot. I’m selling my stock… I’d take Bo Nix today in a fourth-quarter, come-from-behind situation over Lamar,”
The 29-year-old Jackson had a down 2025 season, passing for 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and seven interceptions while adding 349 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 67 carries.

Some notable — and questionable — names that Cowherd has ahead of Jackson include the likes of Caleb Williams, Justin Herbert, Sam Darnold, Jared Goff, Jordan Love, and Drake Maye.
After landing at No. 69 on the NFL’s Top 100 Players countdown, the disrespect toward Jackson has continued in recent days, and it’s been quite surprising to see.
Jackson dealt with hamstring and back injuries last season that clearly impacted his game, particularly his biggest strength: his speed and ability to extend plays with his legs. Before the hamstring injury, he was putting up MVP-caliber numbers through the air and on the ground, further suggesting the injury had a major effect on the rest of his season.
Any time Jackson has had a poor year, he’s typically followed it up with a great one, and as long as he can stay healthy, the Ravens superstar quarterback is a good bet to bounce back in 2026.
