With no extension agreed to this offseason, Lamar Jackson enters 2026 with a lot of questions surrounding him and his future with the Baltimore Ravens.
Some reports have already suggested that the two-time MVP could soon be on his way out of Baltimore because of the lack of a new contract, and Jason La Canfora’s latest rumblings point to him teaming up with Mike Tomlin on the New York Jets.

The pair share a deep mutual respect built over years of AFC North battles, and New York’s defensive core provides an immediate foundation for a contender. Combined with Johnson’s history of pursuing marquee names and Tomlin’s preference for veteran quarterbacks, the alignment is clear,”
The 29-year-old Jackson has two years remaining on the five-year, $260 million contract extension he signed with the Ravens back in 2023. On the other hand, Tomlin, 54, is still under contract with the Steelers through the 2027 season thanks to the extension he signed with the team in June 2024.
While the thought of Jackson and Tomlin to the Jets seems like a pie-in-the-sky scenario for now, the possibility of going to New York and helping snap the longest active playoff drought in North American major professional sports could be intriguing.
The Jets do have an abundance of draft picks to make such moves happen, along with some interesting young talent for Jackson and Tomlin to build with.
Ultimately, all of this will depend on how Jackson fares in Baltimore this upcoming season, which makes for a pressure-filled campaign for the Ravens.
