Mike Tyson (59) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48) have reportedly agreed on a date and location for their long-teased exhibition fight—April 25, 2026, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Africa. While things can always change with these types of spectacles and a first date and time is often not the end date and time, they seem to be moving closer to the finish line.
Per reports from Ring Magazine’s Mike Coppinger. it’s a “tentative” date, but the two boxers have signed off on it. This would mark nearly 52 years since the historic “Rumble in the Jungle” (Ali vs. Foreman) in the same country—a full circle for heavyweight legends clashing in Africa.
Tyson, 59, last fought in Nov. 2024 against Jake Paul in a Netflix event that posted incredible numbers. , He lost via a unanimous decision, but he was paid well and his bout virtually guaranteed that with the right opponent, he could draw. Traditional boxing fans will hate this. And, many of the fans asking why, will be quite vocal going in. However, they’ll likely also all watch.
In a statement released to TMZ last September, Tyson said: “This fight is something neither the world nor I ever thought would or could happen. However, boxing has entered a new era of the unpredictable – and this fight is as unpredictable as it gets.” He added, “I still can’t believe Floyd wants to really do this. It’s going to be detrimental to his health, but he wants to do it, so it’s signed and it’s happening!”
There are no official PPV/stream details yet, but expect massive hype if this fight actually happens. Both fighters are long retired from official pro bouts (Tyson since 2005 loss to McBride; Floyd since 2017), so this is pure exhibition—no titles, likely limited rounds, headgear possible, big payday vibes.
