David Pastrnak was vocal about his disappointment with the Boston Bruins falling in a six-game first-round series to the Buffalo Sabres. He knows he’s not getting any younger, so every opportunity to play in the postseason becomes that much more important.
As a result, the Bruins’ performance on home ice against the Sabres in Round 1 was unacceptable, particularly when they were stomped 6-1 in an almost must-win Game 4 on a Sunday afternoon in Boston.
The Bruins went down 4-0 in the first period and could never recover, and in recent days, video has surfaced behind the scenes of an extremely frustrated Pastrnak ripping into his team at intermission.
“******* embarrassing. We ******* talked about it, it’s a ******* afternoon game, gotta be ready. Nobody ******* shows up, we lose every ******* battle. Boom, it’s 3-0, two mistakes, we get ******* outbattled, outskated, everything. Guys ******* playing without an MCL and this is how we ******* show up. ******* embarrassing, boys, wake the **** up, **** it,”
The 29-year-old Pastrnak tallied seven points (three goals, four assists) in the six-game series after racking up 100 points (29 goals, 71 assists) during the regular season.

Pastrnak is very likely referring to defenseman Nikita Zadorov, who revealed after being eliminated that he was playing through a torn MCL from Game 3 onward.
It was hard to fathom such a lifeless start to a pivotal game in front of their home fans, and Pastrnak was right to be extremely frustrated with his team. They did manage to put forth a gutsy effort in Game 5 to bring the series back to Boston for Game 6, but we know that’s as far as they were able to take it.
Fans love the passion from their superstar winger, however, and some have even wondered if it could lead to Pastrnak being named captain of the Bruins at some point in the near future.
