Golden State Warriors Plotting a Move for Devin Booker?

The Golden State Warriors have spent years big-game hunting, trying to find a superstar to pair with Stephen Curry as he embarks on the final years of his legendary NBA career.

From Giannis Antetokounmpo to Kawhi Leonard to LeBron James, all they’ve done is strike out so far, but that won’t stop them from trying, and the latest name to emerge in connection with the Warriors is Devin Booker.

Team reporter Tim Kawakami recently had this to say about Golden State’s interest in Booker.

Kawakami said:

“The Warriors love him. Steve loves him. Booker loved playing for Steve… I know the Warriors would be first in line saying, ‘we got three first round picks we can give you,”

Then came this rumor from Owen Prescott on X (formerly Twitter), claiming that Curry has urged the Warriors to push for a Booker deal before the 2026-27 season begins.

“Stephen Curry has reportedly urged the Golden State Warriors front office to make a major push to acquire Devin Booker before the season opener. Sources indicate Curry has made his desire to add Booker known as Golden State continues exploring potential avenues to make a blockbuster move,”

The 29-year-old Booker’s two-year, $145 million maximum contract extension, signed with the Suns last July, doesn’t kick in until the 2028–29 campaign and runs through 2029–30. He averaged 26.1 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 6.0 APG in 64 games last regular season.

Suns owner Matt Ishbia vehemently shut down any talk of Booker being traded out of Phoenix during his end-of-season press conference, so the odds of the superstar guard getting dealt remain low, even if Golden State puts forth a massive offer.

As a result, nobody should be counting on such a trade happening before the Warriors’ season opener against the Lakers on October 21. That said, if the Suns’ season starts to go off the rails, perhaps management will reconsider its direction, and you can guarantee that Golden State GM Mike Dunleavy Jr. would be all over Booker if that’s the case.
