John Cena posted a video promoting WWE Backlash on his socials on Thursday, teasing that he’ll be making an announcement on Saturday that will “shake the very foundation of WWE.”
From the fans to the Superstars and from its champions down to its rookies, whatever Cena is about to say appears to be something that will change how the business is either run or televised for performers on every brand.
Cena has retired as an official competitor in WWE, but he is still making promotional appearances. He was the host of WrestleMania and now he’ll be at Backlash to deliver huge news.
That he is in Tampa dropping hints means this should be huge. It wouldn’t be wise for WWE to tease a major announcement and then fail to deliver. It might be a big show in a new country, a surprise return, or it could be the WWE Draft. The Draft is the kind of event that affects all competitors across every brand.
The WWE Draft allows stars to move from Raw to SmackDown, SmackDown to Raw, or from NXT to one of the main roster brands. Now, with AAA in the mix and LFG, there could be several other shakeups that impact the shows and the opportunities for performers to excel on them.
