Full Details of Darren Raddysh’s Maple Leafs Contract Revealed

The Toronto Maple Leafs coveted Darren Raddysh so much that they got ahead of everyone else to acquire him.

After plenty of speculation connecting the Toronto, Ontario native to his hometown team, new Maple Leafs GM John Chayka pulled the trigger late Thursday night, sending a fifth-round pick to the Tampa Bay Lightning before inking Raddysh to a massive eight-year, $68 million contract extension.

While we already knew the major details of the deal, more information has since emerged, including the fact that Raddysh will have a full no-movement clause through the first six years of the contract, which then shifts to a partial 16-team no-trade list in years seven and eight.

Insider David Pagnotta shared the full details on X (formerly Twitter):

“Darren Raddysh’s contract breakdown:

Year 1: $1M base, $10M signing bonus
Y2: $5M, $6M SB
Y3: $4.5M, $6M SB
Y4: $4.25M, $4M SB
Y5: $3.45M, $4M SB
Y6: $3.3M, $3.3M SB
Y7: $3.3M, $3.3M SB
Y8: $3.3M, $3.3M SB

Includes full NMC in years 1-6, and 16-team no-trade list in years 7-8,”

The 30-year-old Raddysh was set to become a UFA after completing the second and final year of the two-year, $1.95 million extension he signed with the Lightning in 2023. He is, of course, coming off a breakout campaign in which he posted a career-best 70 points (22 goals, 48 assists) in 73 games.

It’s no surprise to see Raddysh receive significant trade protection throughout the deal, though it does add a bit more risk for Toronto should they ever find themselves in a position where they’d like to move him. They know exactly how complicated that can get, currently dealing with Morgan Rielly and his full no-trade clause.

That said, the Maple Leafs clearly like what they see in Raddysh, and they’ll be hoping his no-movement clause never becomes a topic of conversation because he fits in and lives up to the contract.
