A decently productive but up-and-down rookie year wasn’t too much of an issue, a drop-off in play and injuries in Year 2 were concerning, and now an extremely slow start to Year 3 for Marvin Harrison Jr. has his future with the Arizona Cardinals coming into question
Expectations were sky-high for the 2024 fourth overall pick, and not only has he failed to live up to them, but his trajectory has only been on the downward swing in recent years.
There is still time for Harrison Jr. to find his footing in Arizona, but if that doesn’t happen soon, ESPN insider Dan Graziano is hearing that the former standout prospect could be traded before the November 10 deadline.
“Execs around the league are wondering whether the Arizona Cardinals could explore trading 2024 No. 4 pick Marvin Harrison Jr. ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline. Harrison was held without a catch in Week 2. The team signed fellow wide receiver Michael Wilson Jr. to a contract extension this offseason. They have a new coaching staff and a new offense. Harrison is extension-eligible after this season, and as of now, the Cardinals would have a hard time paying him based on what he’s shown in the league so far. It’s worth watching out for a potential change-of-scenery deal in this case,”
The 24-year-old Harrison Jr. just began the third year of the four-year, $35,374,742 rookie contract he signed with the Cardinals upon being drafted in 2024. He has just one catch for 33 receiving yards through the first two games of the 2026-27 season.
While the start to Harrison Jr.’s NFL career has been very disappointing thus far, there should still be no shortage of suitors willing to gamble on his talent and see if they can bring out the play and production that is supposed to be in there.
