Analyst: “Guaranteed Playoff Win If It’s Jays and Yankees”

The Toronto Blue Jays are fighting just to stay in contention for the playoffs right down the stretch of the 2026 season, but if they do qualify, one analyst likes their chances should they draw the New York Yankees as an opponent.

Despite losing two out of three in the Bronx over the weekend, Jeff Blair was unimpressed by the Yankees and is very confident that the Blue Jays would take out their division rivals once again in a postseason rematch.

Blair said:

“I’ll say this, I would love to face the Yankees in the first round of the playoffs, I would love to. I would love to face them. The Yankees are just dumb, they play dumb*** baseball. They play dumb*** baseball, they really do. There is no way, no way that team will win any playoff series, they can win the AL East and they’re going to piss it away… I want that, I want that. Absolutely, give me that any day. Don’t want any part of Boston. Give me that any day. Absolutely they win that series. Guaranteed playoff win 140% if it’s Jays and Yankees. Jays and Yankees, book the next round, book the hotel rooms for the next round,”

Toronto, of course, eliminated New York in four games during the 2025 ALDS, outscoring them 34-19 in the series.

Blue Jays Yankees ALDS

Similarly to last season, the Yankees have their flaws that the Blue Jays are capable of exposing. That being said, Toronto needs to figure out its own problems and just get into the dance in general.

With 30 games left in their season, last year’s AL champions sit two games back of the Cleveland Guardians for the final wild card spot, with the Houston Astros and Minnesota Twins between them, while the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners are still hot on their heels.

There’s no doubt that if the Blue Jays make it to the postseason, they’ll be a scary team to face, but it ultimately won’t matter in the end if they don’t find a way to get there.
