Trade rumors have swirled around Mike Trout for years, but now that he’s back to full health and playing at an MVP level on yet another struggling Los Angeles Angels team, they’ve reached new heights.
Serious chatter has emerged about the possibility of Trout being dealt to a playoff contender, perhaps even before the August 3rd trade deadline.
There are plenty of suitors you could make a case for landing the three-time AL MVP, and one of those that a recent Bleacher Report article pointed out was the Toronto Blue Jays.
“That the Blue Jays fell two outs shy of winning the World Series last year is what fans would like to forget. It’s also why Toronto is a good place for Trout. Long-term, Trout would arrive in Toronto knowing that Guerrero and Cease aren’t going anywhere. And after last year, he could also be confident in the Blue Jays’ newfound reputation as a franchise that knows what it’s doing.
The bad contract swap element of a deal between these two teams is almost too easy. José Berríos seems to have worn out his welcome in Toronto, so any excuse to move the $62.4 million he’s owed through 2028 is not to be passed up. Toronto’s farm system, meanwhile, is on the weak side but not without blue-chip types. After Yesavage, the best ones the Angels could push for include JoJo Parker and Arjun Nimmala,”
The 34-year-old Trout is hitting .260 with 11 HRs and 23 RBI through 37 games played this season.

Toronto has struggled offensively thus far in 2025–26, so adding a bat the caliber of Trout is absolutely something Ross Atkins and company would have to consider.
His lengthy injury history and hefty contract create some risk, but as we’ve seen over the first month of the season, the reward remains extremely high.
In the end, the ball is in Trout’s court, as he holds a full no-trade clause. That said, a Blue Jays team that took the Los Angeles Dodgers to Game 7 of the World Series last year has to intrigue him.
