New Day Wants To Have Dream Match With The Young Bucks

The New Day vs. The Young Bucks would be a dream match for a number of wrestling fans. Apparently, it’s a bucket list item for New Day too as one of the most decorated tag teams in WWE history wants a match with one of the most well-known duos that have never been a part of the WWE roster. During an interview with Scott Fishman of TV Insider, Kofi Kingston said the New Day has “been wanting to have a match” with the Young Bucks for a long time.

Obviously, that wouldn’t be an easy match to pull off. Considering Matt and Nick Jackson are wrestlers for AEW and New Day work in WWE, these teams going head-to-head only happen under one of two scenarios: either one team leaves their current promotion, or WWE and AEW agree to work together to make it happen. That’s not likely, thus it’s a bout that would have to wait for one tag team’s contracts to expire. Because it’s not ever likely New Day jump to AEW, that would mean The Young Bucks hopping over to WWE, something that has been speculated in the past.

It’s not entirely clear what their contract status is with AEW. Conflicting reports suggest they could become free agents at some point in late 2023 or early 2024. And, if so, who knows what they’ll do. What is clear from a tweet posted by The Young Bucks on Tuesday is that they would like to have this match too.

Is This Only Ever Going To Be A Dream Match?

It’s hard to say what the odds are this contest between the two teams ever takes place. Neither promotion would want to let their respective performers jump brands if they can help it. As such, it could be one of those dream match scenarios that fans never get. Or, if they do, the wrestlers will all be so past their prime that maybe the appeal isn’t there like it might be now.
