Reports surfaced on Tuesday that WWE Hall of Famer and part-time announcer Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke Monday night in Ft. Myers, Florida. He was rushed to a local hospital where he underwent a medical procedure. His latest condition is said to be serious, but he is awake and not in critical condition. actually good and not in critical condition.
WWE hasn’t made an official announcement and Lawler’s family has not offered an update but wrestlers and friends flooded social media on Tuesday sending well wishes to Lawler and essentially confirming a medical situation did unfold. Reports are that he underwent surgery and is recovering.
Per Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Newsletter… Jerry Lawler was found outside his home, face down in the parking lot. A person who is close to Lawler says it was a blood blockage to the right side of his brain. He is awake according to multiple reports, even though he’s not entirely out of the woods.
We send our thoughts and prayers to Lawler and his family and hope that he recovers quickly. Good friend Dutch Mantell tweeted, “Just talked to Kevin…he said that he talked to the Dr. who said that Jerry is improving. He suffered some paralysis on his left side that he is now regaining use of. The Dr. said that Jerry should recover from this episode. Good luck Jerry.”
This is not the first health scare for Lawler. He suffered a heart attack on a live WWE Raw broadcast in 2012. And suffered a stroke in 2018. Up until Monday’s health episode, he continued to wrestle independent shows and do some work with the WWE. He was recently at the Raw 30th-anniversary show.
