The Kansas City Chiefs never reached the red zone in their 20-3 defeat in Seattle this week, suffering their first loss of the season. The Seattle Seahawks used the moment to take a social media shot at the team.
Minutes after the game, the Seahawks’ official X account posted the text “End Game” alongside a photo of friendship bracelets spelling out “Seahawks Win.” The post appeared to be a playful jab at Travis Kelce and his wife, Taylor Swift, since Swifties are known for trading friendship bracelets at her concerts.
The post caught a lot of attention, as one would expect something poking fun at Taylor Swift might do. To say the least, her followers are passionate and loyal. One reader wrote on the thread, “I’m a huge Swiftie, and I cannot believe people are getting so worked up about it. I thought it was funny!”
Another fan took a different approach. They wrote:
“So instead of celebrating your win, you chose to go the petty route to trash a player and his wife who have done nothing to you and honestly who obviously have more class and kindness in them because they don’t find it necessary to tear people down to try to look important. This type of behavior is why fan bases get such bad names. Just remember your situation can change just like theirs did. And if by chance it was posted by players, then the Seahawks have a toxic problem from within. Do better.”
Kelce has joked about the tradition before, saying on the “New Heights” podcast in 2023 that he once tried to give Swift a bracelet with his phone number on it.
The Chiefs Did Not Play Well vs. the Seahawks
On the field, Kelce finished with four catches for 44 yards. Patrick Mahomes was pressured much of the day by Seattle’s pass rush and threw for just 165 yards, no touchdowns, and one interception. Afterward, Mahomes called it a learning experience for a young team, adding that the veterans need to show how they respond. He said the focus now is a strong week of practice to prepare for another good defense.
Blitz the Seahawk also had some fun at Swift’s expense, posting a doctored image of him on stage at a Taylor Swift concert. “Lately, I’ve been dressin’ for revenge,” the post read.
The Seahawks improved to 4-3 after their “huge win” Sunday night, while the Chiefs stand at 5-1. The Chiefs next take on the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 1, while the Seahawks face the Chicago Bears on Monday, Nov. 2.
