Ricochet in Hot Water with AEW After “I’m Glad You Got MS” Comment

AEW star Ricochet is facing serious backlash and potential internal consequences following a controversial exchange on X (formerly Twitter). The incident stemmed from a fan’s comment on an AEW-posted video of Ricochet’s backstage meltdown after losing the National Championship at AEW Revolution. The fan, who has multiple sclerosis (MS), wrote that “his acting hasn’t improved.” Ricochet replied: “I’m glad you got MS.”

He issued an apology, saying he sincerely apologizes and will do better moving forward, but there’s still speculation that AEW might be considering releasing him from his contract as a result. He wrote, “I took out my hatred for the IWC on Sandi, and inadvertently, others who are affected by MS. She didn’t deserve it, and for that, I sincerely apologize. Moving forward, I’ll do better.”

The remark sparked immediate outrage across social media, and many said this extended well beyond his heel persona. Many highlighted the real pain MS causes, sharing personal stories about loved ones affected by the chronic autoimmune disease. Ricochet initially defended himself in follow-up posts, criticizing the “IWC” (Internet Wrestling Community) for hypocrisy and doubling down, but he later deleted the offending tweet after Samathan Irvin, his other half, had to deactivate her X.com account due to the backlash.

Will AEW Part Ways With Ricochet Or Let It Slide?

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (F4WOnline) commented on the F4W message board thread discussing Ricochet’s “online heel work.” Alvarez quipped: “If he’s crossing his fingers, it’s hoping he’s still employed by the end of the week.”

This has fueled speculation that Ricochet is in significant trouble with AEW management, possibly facing suspension, fines, or even release. No official statement from AEW or Tony Khan has been confirmed as the company tries to figure out what to do next, if anything.
