The best things often come together when there’s a collective effort to get it right. Such is the case with one of the best-told storylines in WWE history, The Bloodline. Speaking with “SI Media Podcast,” Paul Heyman was asked to “single out the person most responsible” for what fans are seeing and loving on television each week and suggested it was a meeting of the minds that was making The Bloodline narrative so impactful and interesting.
Heyman explained, “You hear the old expression that it takes a team? Well, it certainly has with us.” He added, “A lot of people have worked really hard to make this work. It all kinda filters through Roman Reigns’ feel, and there are several people who come to me — to present things to Roman.” That said, there is input coming from everyone involved, including Sami Zayn, The Usos, Kevin Hayes (WWE writer) and he credited Paul “Triple H” Levesque for ensuring “a seamless transition” from the Vince McMahon era where the storyline began. Heyman noted, “It’s really a team effort, and a lot of unsung heroes. A lot of people you don’t read about online. These people have worked their asses off to put this all together.”
Heyman noted that the SmackDown writing team has been incredible during the entire process. He labeled Ryan Callahan (head of SmackDown’s writing team) as an unsung hero in what we’ve put together. He noted, “A lot of the writers from Ryan’s team would sit with us in the locker room, on Roman’s bus, or get into a conference call; we just sit and throw around ideas. We would ask questions such as, ‘What resonates with you?’ or ‘Will the kids be able to relate to this?’ “
It’s All About The Bloodline Story
Heyman said the entire group takes input from everyone and that no one simply throws stuff out there to see what sticks. There’s thought and consideration put into each pitch and everything, including small actions and words, goes into telling the best story possible. No stone is left unturned and everything the fans see has a purpose behind it.
