The initial selections for the Eastern Conference All-Star roster have been unveiled for the 2024 NHL All-Star weekend in Toronto from Feb. 1-3. To say the least, there are some solid players listed, but also reasons for the fans to be upset by the rule that each Eastern Conference team must be represented.
Leading the group are Auston Matthews, Sidney Crosby, David Pastrnak, Nick Suzuki, and Brady Tkachuk. Matthews, the league’s top goal-scorer with 30 goals, represents the host Toronto Maple Leafs. Suzuki, making his third All-Star appearance, and Tkachuk, the Ottawa Senators’ captain earning his fourth nod, add depth to the core.
The Western Conference players will be revealed later, with fan voting determining the final 12 players. The voting begins right away and fans can contribute at the link here.
Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabres is the sole defenseman on the roster. That will make things interesting considering the team will need at least six. Thus, half of the final 12 votes will be defensemen.
