According to NBA insider, Adrian Wojnarowski, the New York Knicks have traded Cam Reddish, Svi Mykhailiuk, Ryan Arcidiacono, and a protected first-round pick to the Blazers for guard Josh Hart. The trade goes down as Hart was warming up for his game against the Golden State Warriors.
Hart, 27, is averaging 9.5 points per game so far this season. It’s his second season with the team after being acquired from the New Orleans Pelicans. According to Twitter account @NBA_New York, “Josh Hart is known as a relentless defender and top rebounding wing; he’s shooting 50.4% from the field. He played on the Villanova 2016 championship team with Jalen Brunson & Ryan Arcidiacono, and on the Lakers with Julius Randle.”
Reddish, 23, was acquired by the Knicks last year but has struggled to be a regular for New York. He is averaging 8.4 points per game in only 20 games this season. Ian Begley is reporting, “Sources said Knicks had also been in touch with Detroit this evening on possible Cam Reddish deal prior to agreement with Portland on Josh Hart trade.”
Wojnarowski adds, “In the Hart-Reddish deal, the Knicks are sending the Blazers a lottery protected 2023 first-round pick that turns into four future second-round picks if not conveyed this year, sources tell ESPN.”
Jalen Brunson’s jersey was being retired tonight at Villanova and found while on site that the Knicks were trading for Josh Hart. Hart played college basketball for Villanova and as a sophomore, was named the Big East tournament’s most outstanding player. Brunson and Hart were college teammates. They will be teammates again with the Knicks.
