Daulton Varsho Has Ignited the Blue Jays With His Recent Play

The Toronto Blue Jays have been playing some fantastic baseball recently. They have won seven of their last ten games. A massive factor in most of those wins has been outfielder Daulton Varsho. His remarkable play has brought a lot of excitement to Toronto Blue Jay fans.

Daulton Varsho Finds His Stride

Last season was a frustrating year for Varsho at the plate. He only hit a .220 average, while putting up 135 strikeouts. That has been the worst average in his career other than the 2020 season, where he only played in 37 games. Although strikeouts remain an issue early in the season, Varsho has been hitting the ball with great pace. In his last ten games, he has ten hits, which include nine extra-base hits.

This has been an amazing sight to see for Blue Jay fans, as many have been rooting for him to have a great season. Along with his offense, he has provided excellent defense as well. In 2023 he was always a reliable fielder. It seems he has carried that consistency into the 2024 season. Hopefully, he can keep this play going for the rest of 2024.

Some Blue Jay Teammates Are Struggling

Even though Varsho has been playing great recently, it has not been the same for some teammates. George Springer, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., and Bo Bichette have had disappointing campaigns so far. Bo Bichette’s play has picked up as of late, but he still has not gotten to the level that is expected from him. Springer and Guerrero Jr have both hit under .230 heading into Wednesday’s game. Both of them have struggled mightily with hitting the ball with power. Springer has no extra-base hits in his last ten games, while Guerrero Jr has one. Not to mention that Vladimir Guerrero Jr’s error in yesterday’s game ended up bringing home the game-winning runs. When will this team’s stars get their play together? Does John Schneider need to change the lineup?

The Blue Jays continue their four-game series against the Kansas City Royals tonight.
