Becky Lynch’s Contract Expires Next Year, Not Attending Raw

We’ll see if this all turns out to be part of a storyline with Trish Stratus, but some odd behavior by Becky Lynch on social media Monday has fans talking. She blacked out her profile on Twitter, changed her name, and then said she wouldn’t be coming to Raw this week.

That strange series was followed by a report from Fightful Select that they have “learned that Becky Lynch’s contract is up next year.” As expected, that has led to fan speculation about her future with the company. As per the report, her contract ends in June 2024 and neither side has started talks on a possible contract renewal.

While no one is jumping to conclusions that she would be eyeing a move to AEW, there are some who wonder if she’s thinking about retiring from professional wrestling or active in-ring competition. Considering she’s a new mother and is facing challenges that come with both she and Seth Rollins being on the road, it wouldn’t be illogical to assume that Lynch might have contemplated her wrestling future.

On Monday, Lynch changed her profile name to Rebecca Quinn and then posted a tweet Lynch that read, “I won’t be coming to Raw today.” The Fightful report then added that her contract expires next year, which seems to suggest that WWE didn’t freeze her deal when she took maternity leave to have her baby. Granted, there are rumors of Lynch nursing a legitimate injury, which could be why she will not be on the show tonight, but fans are curious about what might be going on behind the scenes.

Lynch to Eventually Move to a Part-Time Contract in WWE?

What seems most likely is that Lynch would sign a part-time deal with WWE moving forward. Plenty of wrestlers have successfully done so and considering she’s done some acting and is now a mother, working less than a full-time schedule might be the best deal for both sides.
