The noise around Brady Tkachuk’s future with the Ottawa Senators has ramped up rather quickly since they were swept by the Carolina Hurricanes in the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
A potential departure to an American team has always swirled in the background, but after going pointless in their four-game series, reports suggest that a trade could happen as early as this summer.
That may come as a surprise to some, however, according to the guys from Spittin’ Chiclets, it shouldn’t.
“The only thing I’m going to say about Brady is I feel like he had one foot on the way out,”
He was then asked if he thinks Tkachuk will be a Senator next season:
“No, not a ******* chance,”
Ryan Whitney responded:
“Biz, I agree with you, though. I don’t see him back there, I don’t see it,”
The 26-year-old Tkachuk just finished the fifth year of the seven-year, $57,564,958 contract extension he signed with the Senators back in 2021, and is eligible for a new extension come July 1, 2027. He produced 59 points (22 goals, 37 assists) in 60 games played during the regular season.

Tkachuk has yet to speak to the media for his year-end availability due to the birth of his second child, so we should get a lot more clarity on whether leaving Ottawa is even a consideration when that time comes.
If the superstar winger were to become available on the trade market, there would be no shortage of interested suitors willing to part with a massive return package to land his services. Insider David Pagnotta recently threw out the Utah Mammoth, St. Louis Blues, and Seattle Kraken as three possibilities.
While there remains a lot of uncertainty around Tkachuk’s situation, what is certain is that if he moves, it won’t be to another Canadian team.
