New York City is still riding the high of the Knicks winning the NBA championship, and they won’t be coming down from it for quite some time.
It can’t get much better than witnessing a 53-year drought snapped thanks to a spectacular 16-3 postseason run from their Knicks. Or can it?
As the focus shifts to baseball season, the New York Yankees are still looking to put an end to their own 16-year championship drought. Sitting at 45-27 atop both the AL East and the American League, Aaron Judge has his sights set on bringing another title to the Big Apple this fall.
“There’s a lot of winning going on in New York, so we got to keep that going. I like the team we have. I like the opportunity we’ve got in front of us. It’s going to be an exciting rest of the year.
A Knicks championship in June and a Yankees World Series in October would bring world peace.
I play the game to win. I play the game to be a champion. You want to go out there and be the best for your family and friends and your fans.”
The 34-year-old Judge was hitting .248 to go with 17 HRs and 38 RBI through 59 games before going down with a rib injury in early June.

While not everyone may agree with Judge’s comments, New Yorkers certainly will, and the Yankees have looked like a well-oiled machine this season, establishing themselves as the clear class of the American League despite being hit hard by injuries.
Judge has only even made it to the World Series once in his MLB career, and as he approaches his mid-30s, he knows time is ticking on his chances to bring another championship to New York. The 2026 season could represent one of his best remaining opportunities to do just that.
